The management of the Alhama Signature Golf Course have issued the following update:
Condado de Alhama 13th March 2024
Dear members,
I am writing to inform you of the latest developments that have taken place at Alhama Signature Golf in the past few weeks.
In the maintenance area during this Winter the following works have been carried out, some of them are still in progress:
– Maintenance and repair of the drainage system and repair of bunkers.
– Maintenance and tuning of the irrigation system of the areas to be planted in the future.
– Global audit of the irrigation system.
– Herbicide treatment of the rough.
– Decompaction of greens bunker sand.
– Cleaning and treatment of lakes.
– Introduction of 300 new Neptune and Poseidon fish for biological control of algae and mosquitoes in the lakes.
– Supply of 24,000kg. of gypsum to protect the soil from the negative effects of brackish water.
– Scheduled repair and preventive maintenance of the entire fleet of machinery.
– Acquisition of the services of a pricking machine for the decompaction of greens, greensides, fairways and rough throughout the course.
– Pruning of stipes, trees and landscaping.
– Improvement, definition and creation of pedestrian shortcuts from greens to tees in various areas of the course.
– Installation of “The Clover” distance signs on the driving range, new “Condado Invest” flags and refurbishment of the ball machine area.
– General pigmentation treatment of the entire course to protect against low temperatures. All this treatment will facilitate the recovery of fairways in the Spring/Summer season.
– The golf course boundary has been continuously replaced in several areas. Please note that people, animals, bicycles, motorbikes, scooters, etc. are not allowed on the golf course.
– Rabbit pest control continues in accordance with environmental regulations.
As mentioned in the last communication, the following major works will be carried out during the next Summer season:
– Deep scarifying of fairways and rough.
– Start of the recovery of the lost grass area on some holes, bringing us closer to the original Nicklaus design.
– Installation of new signage indicating shortcuts, prohibiting the passage of buggies through sensitive areas, clear indications of “next tee” to avoid wasting time for new players.
During this period of time the golf course will remain fully open and these tasks will be carried out very early in the morning to avoid interrupting the game.
Regarding the evolution of the golf rounds, the number of monthly tee times has doubled compared to the previous year.
Alhama Signature Golf is very grateful for the invitation to the AGM held by the CDA Golf Society on 12th March (our home Society of Alhama Signature). We were given the opportunity to explain the evolution of the project, clarify doubts raised by our members and make suggestions that will be studied in the near future.
A few weeks ago we proceeded to change the hps. of the holes using the statistics provided by CDA Golf Society which is the most consistent for the continuity and frequency of their data, with the aim of achieving the balance of the relative difficulty of the holes.
The following are the upcoming events:
– 16th March 5th Category Tournament FGRM
– 13th April FGRM Super League
– 25th and 26th April Galaxy Golf Demo (Taylor Made, Callaway, Ping & King Cobra)
On the other hand, I am pleased to inform you that the Alhama Signature Golf Academy has signed an agreement with ASSSA Seguros, a company highly specialised in health insurance that supports and spreads the practice of sport as a healthy lifestyle habit. Finally, I would like to join the petition of many neighbours who are concerned about the speed of some cars in the Urbanization. We are all aware of the incidents of the past weeks and it is in our spirit to appeal to the responsibility to avoid as far as possible any risk to people and animals residing in Condado de Alhama. Efforts are being made to have a speed control system put in place within the inner ring road which will help to avoid accidents.
